Showbiz est le premier album du groupe du groupe de rock progressif MUSE , sorti 1999 chez Mushroom Records , l'album à été produit par John Leckie ( Pink Floyd,Radiohead... ) et enregistré au Sawmill Studios en Cornouailles . L'album a été certifié disque de platine au Royaume uni, mais a toutefois été un échec commercial aux Etats Unis . Résolument taillé pour la scène , Showbiz est leur album le plus rock et minimaliste de tous, influence psyché rock assez forte ,les atmosphères font penser aux univers de Radiohead , Jeff Buckley et Pink Floyd ,notamment dans l'alternance de plages calmes - mais néanmoins tendues comme augurant d'une proche tempète - et d'autres plus électriques ... Ecrit dans un mode mineur ,l'influence classique de Matt Bellamy ( le chanteur pianiste guitariste épris de Rachmaninoff, Berlioz ...) mais aussi allemande ( Kurt Weill ) se fait déjà sentir ( Fillip ...) . Pour moi Muse est un immense groupe symboliste, il parvient à nous faire entendre ce qu'ils ne jouent pas mais suggèrent par leur ambiance ... là est une de leur magie... sans doute parce que leur musique s'enracine dans de multiples influences et ainsi accroit notre imaginaire d'auditeur .

Resolutely built to be played live, Showbiz is their most rock and minimalist record aff all, with a strong psyche rock influence,their musical atmospheres are close with those of Radiohead, Jeff Buckley and Pink Floyd universe ,especially in the alternation of quiet passages - but however tense like the calm before the storm - and others more electric ... Written in a minor mode, the classical influence of Matt Bellamy ( the singer guitarist and pianist who enjoy Rachmaninoff ,Berlioz...)but also german influence ( Kurt Weill ) can be heared sometimes. MUSE is for me , a great symbolist band of music ,he succeeds in making us hear what is not played but suggested by their atmosphere ... here is their magic ! certainly because their music take root in multiple influences and so open our imagination of listener .
